Empower Rail Systems, Bridge the Skill Gap

The railway industry is grappling with a critical shortage of specialized labor in systems management, largely due to the high costs and inaccessibility of traditional training methods.

The Rail Interlocking System Simulation (RISS) project aims to provide an innovative solution by focusing on training and developing skilled professionals in railway systems management.

WP2

Simulation

These activities focus on developing simulation software to enhance vocational education, particularly during distance learning. This interactive simulation enables learners to gain practical experience by modeling real-world railway systems, including station and line management, signalization systems, ETCS/ERTMS systems, and more.

WP3

Application Scenarios

The focus of these activities is to develop practice scenarios to enhance vocational education, addressing the gap in hands-on training during distance learning. The aim is to create 20 interactive scenarios for the simulation, allowing students to learn through practice.

WP4

Online Platform

The Online Education Platform (OEP) is designed to support applied education in vocational training, addressing the gap in hands-on learning during distance education. Built on Moodle, this platform integrates simulations and offers features like user login, tracking, reporting, homework submission, and evaluation. It provides a personalized training environment for rail systems learners, accessible from any internet-enabled device, including mobile platforms. The OEP enables students to practice their skills in a realistic virtual environment, enhancing the overall quality and accessibility of railway systems education.

WP5

Dissemination

These activities focus on maximizing the impact of the project through extensive dissemination activities. Additional efforts involve networking and collaboration with VET providers, research institutions, and industry partners to enhance the project’s reach.
