University of Zagreb (UNIZG) (established 1669) is the oldest and biggest university in South-Eastern Europe. As a comprehensive public Central European university, University of Zagreb offers education and research and in all scientific fields (arts, biomedicine, biotechnology, engineering, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences) and a broad spectrum of courses at all study levels, from undergraduate to postgraduate. With 30 Faculties and 3 Art Academies, it is the flagship educational institution in the country, a place where more than 7900 teachers and 72480 students develop knowledge and acquire skills.
The University excels not only in teaching but also in research, contributing with over 50 percent to the annual research output in Croatia and 80 percent of scientific productivity of all Croatian universities. The central strategic issue of the future development of the University of Zagreb is for it to be a research-oriented institution with the teaching of high quality. Accordingly, the focus will be on master and doctoral programs, encompassing all fields of science and art, boosting transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity as well as translational research, nurturing the culture of innovation and transfer of
knowledge. This should result in better intersectoral harmonisation on local and regional levels.
The University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (UNIZG FTTS) was founded in 1984 as an independent scientific, teaching and research institution. At the UNIZG FTTS its 190 employees, from this number 120 scientific researcher, 30 researchers and 40 technical staff. UNIZG FTTS has four locations: Vukelićeva 4 (administration and lecture rooms), Campus Borongaj (researcher, lecture rooms and laboratories), Kušlanova 2 (laboratory and lecture rooms) and Airport Lučko (hangar, lectures roams, flight simulators and maintenance facility).
Overall it has 21 laboratories that are covering almost all research in the field of transport and traffic sciences. Currently, UNIZG FTTS is a leading scientific and research institution in Croatia, covering around 80% of all country research output and the leading institution for education in the field of transport and traffic sciences. UNIZG FTTS have expertise in the field of transport and traffic which encompasses knowledge about passenger transport, cargo transport, technology of transport and transport management. Also, the current study program Transport covering important strategic goals such as: modal shift, green transport, intermodal transport, integrated passenger transport systems. We are covering all three cycle of Bologna process: bachelor, master and doctoral education.
